concept of future technology 5G network wireless systems and internet of things

Adani Group has confirmed its participation in the upcoming 5G telecom spectrum auction and has applied to participate in the auction. The auction includes the sale of airwaves in various bands, including the crucial 5G airwaves in 3.5 GHz. According to the company, the move aligns with its aim to provide private network solutions across business verticals, noting that the company’s intention would not be in the consumer mobility business.

However, under the Indian telecom regulations, Adani Group would require a unified access service (UAS) permit from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to participate in the 5G airwaves sale. According to sources, the potential target spectrum in open bidding would align with the recent announcement of the Adani Foundation to increase investments in education, science, healthcare and skill development in rural areas.

As per the notice inviting applications (NIA), which outlines the auction rules, July 8, 2022 was the deadline for submission of applications. Meanwhile, other key dates include the pre-qualification of bidders on July 18, 2022 and mock auctions on July 22 and July 23, 2022.
