The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved a two-year extension in the tenure of Dr Rajkumar Upadhyay, chief executive officer (CEO) of the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT).
Earlier, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) had proposed the extension for Upadhyay beyond his superannuation on July 9, 2023.
In October 2020, Upadhyay joined India’s telecom technology research organisation C-DOT as the executive director. In December 2022, he was promoted to the newly-created rank of CEO and became C-DOT board’s chairman. Previously, he served the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) as an advisor and worked as a deputy director general (DDG) at DoT. Upadhyay is also the founding member of the Bharat 6G Alliance.
Upadhyay is an M.Tech in electronics and communication engineering from IIT Roorkee, and holds a doctorate (PhD) in corporate strategy and policy from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore.
