Acatel-Lucent has been selected by Togo Cellulaire to extend its network capacity in GSM and build the first 3G wireless broadband network in Togo. Under the $30.5 million contract, AlcatelLucent will deploy the new network by the end of 2010, enabling Togo Cellulaire to offer advanced mobile broadband services to over 2.2 million subscribers and businesses throughout the country. The agreement covers an end-to-end turnkey solution, including the comprehensive converged radio access network (RAN) portfolio, which supports both 2G and 3G-based services over the same platform. The deployments will enable the operator to sustain a rapid increase of voice and data traffic and to smoothly evolve towards 3G or 4G technology.
