According to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), since the launch of mobile number portability (MNP) service in July 2013, about 102.49 million subscribers have opted for the service at end of September 2013.
In the month of September 2013, about 2.29 million users approached their operators with MNP requests. In the month of September 2013, the maximum numbers of requests for migrating from existing service provider to another using MNP service were received from the MNP Zone-I (Northern and Western India). About 10.15 million users in Rajasthan and 8.86 million users in Gujarat opted for MNP service. The second highest number of MNP requests was reported from MNP Zone-II (Southern and Eastern India). A total of 11.84 million users in Karnataka and about 9.30 million users in Andhra Pradesh opted for MNP service in Karnataka.
