Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has initiated the ‘BSNL Mission Mode Fiberisation’ project in Tamil Nadu to convert all current copper-based landline and broadband connections to high-speed fibre connections within a span of six months. As part of this initiative, around 120,000 copper connections in the Tamil Nadu circle will be converted to fibre, facilitating enhanced internet speeds and connectivity for customers across the region.

As part of this transformation, customers will receive a complimentary optical fibre modem and will not incur any installation charges. Furthermore, customers can retain their existing telephone numbers, ensuring a seamless transition to the most reliable fibre network.

By transitioning from copper-based to fibre service, data speeds will significantly improve, ranging from a minimum of 30 Mbps to a maximum of 300 Mbps, compared to the previous 10 Mbps offered in copper broadband service. Additionally, voice services are included free of charge with all fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) data plans, allowing customers to make calls across India without incurring additional charges.

BSNL Tamil Nadu circle has encouraged all its esteemed copper customers to upgrade their landline service to fibre by visiting the nearest BSNL office or customer service centre. The operator has authorised BSNL FTTH partners to reach out to copper customers and facilitate their transition to fibre.
