According to a regulatory filing, Bharti Airtel has received a notice from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) for an alleged violation of subscriber verification norms, entailing a penalty of Rs 357,000.

In the filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange, the operator informed that the notice pertains to the Bihar licensed service area and was received on January 8, 2024.

Airtel stated that it pertained to an alleged violation of terms and conditions with respect to subscriber verification norms under the licence agreement, pursuant to a sample customer application form audit conducted by the DoT for September 2023.
