Tata Electronics has summited an application for setting up an outsourced semiconductor assembly and test (OSAT) in Assam with an investment worth Rs 400 billion.

According to Himanta Biswa Sarma, chief minister of Assam, the company will set up the facility in Jagiroad. The operations will include the assembly and packaging of semiconductors.

The chief minister said that the conglomerate has also approached the state government to train 1,000 people for employment in the unit.
