Akash Tripathi, chief executive officer (CEO) of MyGov, has assumed additional charge as CEO of the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), effective from October 9, 2023. Tripathi has taken over from Amitesh Kumar Sinha, whose tenure ended on October 4, 2023. Sinha, an Indian Railway Accounts Service officer, was also in-charge of the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for information technology (IT) hardware, and served as the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology’s (MeitY) nodal officer for social media content takedowns under Section 69 of the IT Act. As per the revised work distribution order, Sushil Patil, joint secretary, MeitY, is responsible for the PLI scheme for IT hardware, with effect from October 9, 2023. Meanwhile, Sanket S. Bhondve, joint secretary, MeitY, will take over as the designated officer under Section 69 of the IT Act. Currently, as CEO of MyGov, Akash Tripathi’s responsibilities include monitoring website and social media activities, overseeing artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging technology, and managing the Human Centred Computing Division, India AI, and the Digital India Bhashini Division.
