The government is looking at different ways to estimate the size of India’s digital economy by identifying key performance indicators (KPIs) along with gaps and providing possible solutions to grow it further. To this end, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has floated a request seeking bids from agencies willing to work on providing an estimation of the size of the digital economy by reviewing the existing data across the globe and then suggesting an appropriate framework for India.

The bidder will also be required to submit KPIs, data sources, methodology for regular data collection, and estimate the size of the digital economy and the jobs under the digital economy, hence making a projection on the size of the Indian economy in the next five years. MeitY is aiming at exercising different methodologies than the ones already done, to capture the required metrics.
