Revathi Mannepalli has been elected as a member of the Radio Regulations Board (RRB) of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) for a period of the next four years (2023-2026).
According to ITU-Asia Pacific Foundation (ITU-APT), Mannepalli, India’s candidate for member, RRB of ITU, won the elections with the support of 139 countries out of 180 voting countries. She received the highest number of votes in east Asia and the Middle East. Candidates from Saudi Arabia and China also won while Indonesia lost the RRB elections. India has also won a seat in the administrative council with the second-highest votes winning the support of 160 countries. As per ITU-APT, India won both the seats with an overwhelming majority and would contribute more effectively to global spectrum regulations and satellite orbit allocation during the next four-year period.
