The Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DoT) has signed an agreement with VVDN Technologies and IIT Hyderabad-incubated startup WiSig Networks to develop 5G open radio access network (RAN) products and other equipment. C-DoT is the Department of Telecommunications’ research and development (R&D) arm, and has indigenously developed a 4G solution. It is also working in the area of 5G.

This collaboration aims to leverage the technical competencies and complementary strengths of Indian R&D and industry in evolving a mutually productive alliance leading to indigenous design, development, manufacturing and deployment of cost-effective 5G products and solutions.

The engagement is also expected to augment the indigenous intellectual property and create new avenues for wider adoption and monetisation of home-grown 5G products and solutions.
