The government has informed the parliament that 34 firms including Bharti Airtel, Tata Communications, Railtel Corporation, Reliance Communications Infrastructure, SwissFone India, SwissFone and Sify Technologies, have violated internet service licence norms.
C-DAC Noida, Icenet.net, Kappa Internet Services, Noida Software Technology Park, and World Gate Network are among the other violators named by Devusinh Chauhan, minister of state for telecommunications.
Further, the government has discovered that the provision of internet connectivity by Bharti Airtel, C-DAC in Noida, Railtel Corporation of India, Reliance Communications Infrastructure, Tata Communications, Primenet Global, My-Net Services India Private Limited, and some other service providers are resulting in the unauthorised resale of internet services.
Moreover, Sify Technologies, Noida Software Technology Park Limited, Pipetel Communications, Data Infosys, Icenet.net, and Five Network Solution, among others, subleased licence and services and billed through their company, the government said. Additionally, Airnet India violated regulations by transferring licence operations; Kappa Internet Services, ISP Solutions (India), private limited, SwissFone India Ventures, Spectrum Soft-Tech Solutions, and Rainbow Communications were providing services beyond the service area and Virtela India, too, was offering services outside of the service area and billing customers from outside India.
