According to a recent report by IDC, the Indian smartphone market in the first quarter (Q1) of 2021 was led by Xiaomi with 27.2 per cent share in the overall market.
Further, the report added that the smartphone company has been leading the Indian market for over four years in a row now. Xiaomi shipped 10.4 million smartphone units to India in Q1 2021 in comparison to 10.1 million handsets in Q1 2020. This was followed by Samsung with 7.3 million units shipped with 19 per cent of the market share. Further, Vivo and Oppo held 17.3 per cent and 12.2 per cent market share respectively. Meanwhile, Realme sold 4.1 million phones and with a 10.7 per cent market share.
While Mi 10i was the leading 5G model in Q1 2021, Redmi 9 series models accounted for 10 per cent of Xiaomi’s overall demand in India, the IDC added. The company has sold over three million Mi 11, Mi 11 Pro, and Mi 11 ultra, globally.
