The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has reportedly directed all telcos to share details of all their segmented offers made between January and November 2020 within 15 days. As per industry sources, the details to be shared must include offer name, tariff rates, terms and conditions, validity spans and benefits.
TRAI has said that details such segmented offers for the January-November 2020 period need to be made on a monthly basis for each service area.
Further, the telcos will have to make mandatory disclosures of segmented offers from December 2020 onwards within 10 working days from the last day of the month.
Earlier in November 2020, the Supreme Court had upheld TRAI’s appeal against a telecom tribunal order that had set aside a regulation requiring telecom operators to report all tariffs. The regulation was aimed at ensuring transparency and non-discrimination.
