The government of Telangana has announced the establishment of a special purpose vehicle (SPV) to develop a robust fibre network across the state. The T-Fiber network is set to connect every gram panchayat in the state through a ring architecture.

Under the first phase, digital connectivity will be established in 3,089 villages across the undivided districts of Nizamabad, Ranga Reddy and Khammam, where network infrastructure had suffered damage. These villages will be connected on a par with the rest of the state under the Amended BharatNet Programme (ABP), using modern fibre infrastructure designed to meet future requirements.

Discussions between the chief minister and the union minister of communications focused on expediting the finalisation of the implementation agreement, accelerating the release of pending funds and advancing the T-Fiber project under the ABP.

Officials said the state is moving decisively towards building a unified digital backbone. The ring architecture ensures service continuity even in the event of a disruption along one route, with traffic automatically rerouted through an alternative path.

Additionally, the SPV and the agreement with the central government are expected to pave the way for a truly Digital Telangana, with rural areas gaining access to continuous, high-speed broadband connectivity.
