The deputy commissioner (DC) of Srinagar chaired a meeting of the District Telecom Committee (DTC) at the DC Office to review the development of telecom infrastructure under the Jammu and Kashmir Communication and Connectivity Infrastructure Project (JKCCIP).

The meeting was attended by senior district officials including the additional district development commissioner, additional DC, chief planning officer, and representatives of telecom companies operating in the district.

The committee deliberated on key issues including the construction and commissioning of mobile towers, 4G network saturation, right of way status, progress under the amended BharatNet project, and 5G street furniture mapping.

Further, the DC stressed the importance of inter-departmental coordination to ensure timely completion of telecom projects, urging that every panchayat be connected to its respective block to strengthen local governance and service delivery. He underscored 4G coverage saturation and the BharatNet rollout as priorities critical to enhancing digital access across all communities.

Additionally, the DC sought direct feedback from telecom operators, urging them to improve service quality, particularly in remote and underserved areas of the district.
