As per the latest data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Bharti Airtel, Reliance Jio and Vodafone Idea Limited (Vi) gained 4.85 million, 1.62 million and 0.02 million in wireless (mobile) subscribers respectively, while Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) lost 0.10 million subscribers month-on-month during February 2026. Meanwhile, the wireless subscriber base of Airtel, Jio and Vi increased to 472.64 million, 493.11 million and 198.38 million respectively. In addition, BSNL’s user base shrank to 92.92 million.

Besides, TRAI data showed that Airtel, Jio and Vi gained 0.83 million, 0.51 million and 0.31 million respectively while BSNL lost 0.04 million in rural India for wireless. The data released by the regulator also showed that overall wireless tele-density increased marginally to 92.66 per cent in February 2026 from 92.22 per cent in January 2026.

Separately, TRAI data showed that Airtel, Jio and Vi gained 0.23 million, 0.11 million and 0.02 million wireline users, increasing their landline user base to 11.39 million, 15.04 million and 0.84 million respectively. Meanwhile, BSNL saw marginal loss of 0.04 million users.

Further, the month of February 2026 witnessed Airtel widening its wireless customer market share to 37.59 per cent, up from 37.40 per cent in the previous month. Furthermore, Vi, Jio and BSNL narrowed its customer base to 15.78 per cent, 39.22 per cent and 7.39 per cent as against 15.86 per cent, 39.29 per cent and 7.44 per cent in January 2026.

Furthermore, in the month of February 2026, about 14.47 million subscribers submitted their requests for Mobile Number Portability (MNP). With this, the cumulative MNP requests increased from 1,267.45 million at the end of January 2026 to 1,281.92 million at the end of February 2026, since implementation of MNP.
