The state transformation commission of the government of Uttar Pradesh has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with OneOTTIntertainment Limited (OIL), the broadband division of Hinduja Global Solutions Limited (HGS), to implement Project GANGA (Government Assisted Network for Growth and Advancement). The initiative aims to expand broadband access across the state.
Project GANGA is designed to improve digital connectivity in Uttar Pradesh while creating opportunities for local entrepreneurship. The initiative aims to empower between 8,000 and 10,000 individuals at the NyayaPanchayat level to operate as independent Digital Service Providers, who will deliver high-speed broadband connectivity to households and businesses across the state.
The programme aims to connect more than 2 million homes within the next two to three years, while generating direct and indirect employment for over 100,000 people.
The initiative is also expected to support government programmes focused on digital education, healthcare access, and digital governance by expanding reliable internet connectivity in underserved areas.
