Ericsson and Intel have entered a partnership to develop artificial intelligence (AI) native radio access network (RAN) equipment and packet core solutions for 6G networks. The collaboration will also focus on platform level security and advanced network capabilities.
AI native 6G is expected to combine intelligent and programmable networks with advanced computing and real time sensing, laying the foundation for more responsive and capable digital services.
Research and development, standards formulation and trials for 6G are currently in progress. However, commercial deployment of 6G mobile networks is anticipated only from 2030 onwards.
Ericsson recently announced that it had conducted a pre standard 6G trial, showcasing use cases such as AI powered robotics and real time video streaming.
