Qualcomm has partnered with major telecom operators and automobile manufacturers, including Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, Ericsson, Nokia, Tejas Networks, Hyundai, SAIC Motor and Geely Auto, to jointly advance the development of 6G technology.

The collaboration will focus on three core architectural areas, namely devices, networks and cloud infrastructure.

The participating companies aim to support the timely development of key 6G standards, conduct early system validation, and demonstrate specification compliant pre commercial devices and networks by 2028. They also plan to establish a common industry benchmark for 6G readiness and initiate the rollout of globally interoperable commercial 6G systems from 2029 onwards.

According to Qualcomm, the partners will also work together to develop capabilities for new business models and services to accelerate adoption and generate value across the 6G ecosystem.

Other supporting telecom and technology companies include Amazon, Asus, BT Group, Cisco, Dell, e&, FPT Corporation, Fujitsu 1finity, Google, HP, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, HUMAIN, KDDI, KT, Lenovo, LG Electronics, LG Uplus, Meta, Microsoft, Motorola, NEC Corporation, NTT DOCOMO, Samsung Electronics, Sharp, SK Telecom, Snap Inc., Stellantis, Swisscom, Telstra, TIM Group, T Mobile, Viettel Group, VNG and YTL.
