The global consensus on artificial intelligence (AI) governance has widened, with three more countries joining the New Delhi Declaration on AI Impact, taking the total number of signatories to 91 countries and international organisations.
Bangladesh, Costa Rica and Guatemala endorsed the framework after the conclusion of the AI Impact Summit 2026, following its initial adoption by 88 entities on February 21, 2026. According to the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY), the declaration marks a key milestone in global cooperation on AI development and security.
The framework is structured around seven core pillars of action, termed “Chakras”, aimed at guiding international collaboration on AI. These pillars focus on democratising access to AI resources, promoting economic growth and social good, and ensuring the development of secure and trustworthy AI systems. The declaration also emphasises AI for scientific advancement, social empowerment through wider access, human capital development, and the creation of resilient, efficient and innovative AI ecosystems.
