Delhi government has appointed a nodal officer within the Public Works Department (PWD) to coordinate with the State Broadband Committee. This initiative aims to streamline the deployment of broadband networks and expedite 5G rollout across the city. The appointment follows a directive from central authorities issued last year, urging departments such as PWD to designate officials specifically for handling connectivity-related clearances.
To reduce public disruption from excavation activities, the Urban Development Department has been instructed to ensure that all agencies inform relevant authorities before initiating any digging work. This coordination is expected to facilitate smoother infrastructure rollout.
Additionally, the Delhi government has directed telecom service providers to speed up 5G deployments, especially in key zones like New Delhi. These measures are expected to significantly enhance the city’s digital connectivity and help meet the rising demand for high-speed internet and mobile services.
