The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), with the assistance of the telecom service providers (TSPs), conducted drive tests at following cities, their surrounding areas and highways, namely: Vijayapura, Chandrapur, Bhopal, Baripada, Warangal, Yamunanagar, Jagadhari, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Hisar, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Junagadh, Diu, Saitual, Khawzawl, Champhai, West and South West Khasi Hills Districts, Faridabad, New Delhi, Sahibabad and Ghaziabad in the quarter ending December 2024.

In Operator Assisted Drive Tests (OADT), the performance of Bharti Airtel Limited, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL)/ Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL), Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited. and Vodafone Idea Limited, providing services in a licensed service area (LSA) through various technologies (like 2G/ 3G/ 4G) for voice and data, has been measured by conducting drive test. The observations presented in drive test reports represent the performance of the TSPs on the area/ route under test on the day/ time of conducting the drive test.

The following key performance indicators (KPIs) for voice as well as data service were assessed for the networks of all TSPs operating in the region:

  • Voice services: Coverage, call setup success rate, drop call rate, block call rate, handover success rate and RX quality etc.
  • Data service: Download and upload throughputs, web browsing delay, video streaming delay and latency etc.

Details of the areas covered:

  • Vijayapura city and surrounding areas (450 Kms); and Chandrapur City and Surrounding Area (450) Kms in Regional Office (RO) Bengaluru.
  • Bhopal City and surrounding areas (415 Kms)
  • Baripada City and surrounding areas (430 Kms); and Warangal City and surrounding areas (480 Kms), in RO Hyderabad.
  • Yamunanagar and Jagadhari City (200 Kms); Yamunanagar -Kurukshetra – Kaithal- Hisar Highway (220 Kms); Jodhpur to Jaisalmer Highway (270 Kms); Junagadh City and Surrounding areas (140 Kms); Jaisalmer City and Hotspot (75 Kms); and Junagadh to Diu Highway (175 Kms) in RO Jaipur.
  • Saitual, Khawzawl and Champhai Districts and surrounding areas Mizoram including National Highway 6 (201 Kms); and West and South West Khasi Hills Districts and surrounding areas including National Highway 106 in Meghalaya (473 Kms) in RO Kolkata.
  • Mathura Road to Faridabad,Sahibabad, Ghaziabad and nearby areas including Sanchar Bhawan, Nirman Bhawan, RML Hospital and TRAT Hgs (150 Kms) in New Delhi.
