Airtel Africa, the African subsidiary of Bharti Airtel, has inked a pact with SpaceX to provide high-speed internet via Starlink across the continent. SpaceX has already obtained licenses to operate in nine out of the 14 countries where Airtel Africa has a presence in, with licensing underway in the remaining five.
Through this partnership, Airtel Africa aims to enhance its satellite connectivity portfolio and extend services to enterprises, businesses, schools, and health centres in remote regions. The collaboration will also aid rural network expansion through satellite-based cellular backhaul.
