Dixon Technologies has entered a joint venture (JV) with Taiwan-based Inventec to expand its IT hardware manufacturing business. The JV, named Dixon IT Devices Private Limited, will be 60 per cent owned by Dixon and 40 per cent by Inventec, an original design manufacturer (ODM) for IT hardware.

The new entity will manufacture notebook PCs, servers, desktops, and PC components in India. Dixon also plans to set up a dedicated manufacturing facility under the JV, separate from its Rs 10 billion plant in Chennai.

Further, the JV will also explore participation in the government’s Rs 220 billion scheme for electronic component manufacturing, with each of Dixon’s component subsidiaries applying separately. The partnership will allow Dixon to gain IT hardware design capabilities, particularly for servers, within India, and provide access to Inventec’s global customer base.

Additionally, Dixon plans to establish a large manufacturing park to produce IT hardware products for global clients under the JV, while Inventec will contribute its design expertise, which remains limited in India.
