According to a survey by Microsoft, 65 per cent of Indian respondents used artificial intelligence (AI), more than double the global average of 31 per cent between July 19 and August 9, 2024.
The survey indicates that AI is used in India for translations, answering questions, increasing efficiency at work, and helping students. Millennials (aged 25-44) are the leading adopters, with 84 per cent reporting AI usage. However, India also has some reservations about AI, including concerns about online abuse, deepfakes, scams, and AI hallucinations, mirroring global trends, with online abuse being among the top worries regarding AI.
Despite the rising adoption, the survey exposes reservations among Indian users regarding online abuse. Over 80 per cent of Indian teens reported experiencing online risks.
