Airtel Africa has announced its financial results for the quarter ended December 31, 2024. The profit after tax (PAT) stood at $ 248 million as compared to $ 2 million in the corresponding quarter of 2023. The earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) decreased by 11.9 per cent in reported quarter from $ 1,908 million to $ 1,681 million during the reporting period.

Meanwhile, the EBITDA margins declined from 49.4 per cent to 46.2 per cent, impacted by increased fuel prices and the lower contribution of Nigeria to the Group. Further, revenue declined by 5.8 per cent in reported quarter from $ 3,861 million to $ 3,638 million for the same period.

Mobile services revenue increased by 18.8 per cent in reported quarter. Meanwhile, the mobile money revenue grew by 29.6 per cent in constant currency.

Further, mobile money subscriber base grew by 18.3 per cent from 37.4 million to 44.3 million. This was due to continued investment to increase financial inclusion across the company’s markets.  Furthermore, the total customer base grew by 7.9 per cent from 151.1 million to 163.1 million. Further, data average revenue per user (ARPU) witnessed and increase of 15 per cent.
