Gujarat Fiber Grid Network Limited (GFGNL) (under Gujarat Science and Technology Department) has planned to provide 25,000 fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) connections to rural households under Har Ghar Connectivity (FTTH), a pilot project, in collaboration with various agencies. The initiative will incorporate value-added services like Wi-Fi, cable TV, over-the-top (OTT), and gaming.

The initiative will provide essential services like television entertainment, utility bill payments, digital service stacks, and government to citizen (G2C) services. It will also facilitate online education, internet of thing (IoT) solutions for agriculture, animal husbandry information, e-health, and telemedicine, empowering rural communities with digital tools.

Moreover, Gujarat had launched four new initiatives to improve digital connectivity in rural and urban areas. These include the Har Ghar Connectivity (fibre-to-family) program, Fibre to Field Office initiative, the Fibre-to-Far Flung Towers initiative, and improvements in urban connectivity. The initiatives aim to connect rural government offices to Gandhinagar via the BharatNet network, ensuring seamless digital connectivity for rural citizens and enhancing e-governance. They also aim to provide fast connectivity to urban government offices. Through the initiatives, the Gujarat government will move closer to its goal of a Connected Government, Connected Citizens, Connected Communities, and Connected Businesses.
