Bhuvnesh Kumar has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). Along with CEO UIDAI, he will continue to be an additional secretary in the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).
An officer from 1995 batch IAS from Uttar Pradesh (UP) cadre, and a graduate and gold medallist from National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra, Kumar has held several important positions at the centre and in his cadre state. He has served as joint secretary in MeitY and as principal secretary in Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries in Uttar Pradesh. Previously, he was secretary finance, secretary MSME, secretary technical education and divisional commissioner department of land revenue in government of UP. He was also secretary in charge of sports and youth welfare, planning, and vocational education among many other important positions in his cadre.
