Vodafone Idea Limited (Vi) has announced the launch of its 5G services in select circles on December 17, 2024. This rollout, reported as a soft launch, is currently available in 17 licensed service areas (LSAs) and utilises the 3.3 GHz and 26 GHz (N258) spectrum bands for both prepaid and postpaid users.
As of now Vi’s 5G service is only available in select locations within major cities such as Mumbai, West Bengal, Chennai, Delhi, Bengaluru, and Gujarat, rather than being a widespread rollout.
The 5G service is restricted to specific plans: prepaid users must subscribe to the Rs 475 monthly recharge plan, while postpaid users need to be on the REDX 1101 plan to access the network.
With this Vi becomes the third telecom operator in the country to roll out 5G for its customers.
