The rapid growth of the telecom industry has introduced the challenge of managing its growing energy requirements. Delta Electronics is one of the leading providers of clean, green and smart integrated telecom site management solutions. In an interview with tele.net, Rajesh Kaushal, ICT Business Group Head, India & SAARC, Delta Electronics India, talks about the company’s core focus areas, changing customer requirements, new and innovative solutions, and future growth strategy…

What are Delta Electronics India’s key focus areas?

Our primary focus areas are sustainability, energy efficiency and technological innovation. Our mission is to provide comprehensive solutions in power and thermal management, electric vehicle (EV) charging, telecom power infrastructure and renewable energy integration. We are also committed to supporting the transition to a greener economy by enabling smarter, energy-efficient solutions across sectors such as industrial automation, data centres and transportation. As we expand, our aim is to create solutions that not only meet our clients’ needs but also contribute to the broader goals of energy security and reduced carbon footprint.

How have your customer requirements changed over time? How are you addressing these?

Customer requirements have evolved significantly, driven by rapid technological changes, the need for sustainability and demand for smarter, more integrated systems. Clients now seek solutions that are not only energy efficient but also offer higher levels of connectivity, automation and data-driven insights. To address these evolving needs, we have expanded our research and development (R&D) efforts in internet of things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to develop solutions that offer real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance and enhanced reliability. We also offer modular and scalable products that allow customers to future-proof their operations while optimising costs and energy use.

What role is Delta playing in the  5G ecosystem?

We are playing a critical role in supporting the 5G ecosystem by providing robust telecom power infrastructure that ensures seamless network operation and reliability. Our solutions enable energy-efficient power management across telecom networks, supporting the high-density applications and low latency requirements essential for 5G.

Delta offers a range of products specifically designed for 5G networks, including:

  • Power conversion solutions: These include AC-DC, DC-AC, DC-DC power modules for industrial-grade applications such as telecom, broadband, utility, refineries and marine operations.
  • Power management solutions: Delta’s propriety SMCSs (site management and control solutions) provide end-to-end solutions for complete telecom site power infrastructure requirements.
  • Power backup solutions: Delta is also serving the industry with lithium iron phosphate and nickel manganese cobalt-based lithium-ion batteries for long backup (telecom)  and short backup (data centre)  applications.
  • Thermal solutions: Our in-house R&D capabilities around industrial cooling products set us apart from the
    competition.
Additionally, our collaborations with telecom partners in India strengthen our 5G roll-out efforts, enabling us to play a pivotal role in the country’s digital transformation journey. We are actively investing in innovative power supply and thermal management solutions designed specifically for 5G cell sites.

What are some of the innovative solutions that the company is working on?

Delta is currently developing several innovative solutions aimed at advancing sustainability and operational efficiency. Our cutting-edge EV charging solutions, for instance, integrate renewable energy sources and offer flexible charging options to meet the evolving needs of the transportation sector. In the data centre space, we are pioneering energy-efficient, modular cooling systems that lower energy consumption while maintaining optimal performance. In addition, we are investing in AI-driven automation and predictive maintenance solutions that enhance reliability, reduce downtime and offer actionable insights, empowering our clients to make data-informed decisions.

What will be your growth strategy for the next two to three years?

Our growth strategy is focused on expanding our core competencies and capitalising on the increasing demand for sustainable, energy-efficient solutions. Over the next few years, we plan to deepen our presence in renewable energy, EV infrastructure and smart city projects across India. We will continue to foster partnerships with local governments, industries and technology innovators to drive large-scale energy transformation initiatives. Further, we aim to increase our R&D investments to accelerate the development of next-generation solutions in automation, IoT and AI.
