According to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), the telecom service providers need to take effective steps to improve consumer awareness regarding various grievances redressal mechanism available to them. This comes with a view to improve customer satisfaction.

Recently, TRAI had conducted a customer satisfaction survey through independent agencies for the assessment of quality of service being provided by the telecom service providers. The report released on this survey assesses the implementation and effectiveness of various regulations, directions and orders issued by TRAI as well as the customer perception of telecom service in the period October 2014-March 2015.

The survey was carried out in respect of the basic telephone services (wireline), cellular mobile telephone services and broadband services. It collected consumer views across the Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Uttar Pradesh (East and West) circles in the North Zone; West Bengal, North East, Bihar and Jharkhand circles in the East Zone; Mumbai and Maharashtra circles in the West Zone as well as the Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka circles in the South Zone.
