Chinese handset maker Vivo plans to invest Rs 5 billion for setting up a manufacturing unit and a research and development (R&D) centre in India. These investments will be made over a period of three years.

The company plans to establish the manufacturing unit as well as the R&D centre in Uttar Pradesh. To begin with, Vivo will set up a mobile phone assembling unit with a production capacity of 1 million devices per month by end of 2016. Further,  the company plans to expand its assembling unit and get into full scale manufacturing by 2018.
