The Digital India Week launched on July 1, 2015 by the Prime Minister of the country has attracted investment commitments worth Rs 4.5 trillion from the operators and leading information technology (IT) players.

The Digital India Week has been launched with an aim to provide an impetus to e-governance initiatives and promote inclusive growth in areas of electronic services, products, devices and manufacturing.

Leading industrialists committed significant investments in telecom and IT industry at the event organised to mark the launch of the Digital India Week. For example, Reliance Group?s Anil Ambani and Reliance Industries? Mukesh Ambani committed investments worth Rs 100 billion and Rs 2,500 billion, respectively.

Meanwhile, Aditya Vikram Birla Group?s Birla Kumarmangalam plans to invest Rs 420 billion over the next five years out of which the group will earmark Rs 120 billion for Digital India initiatives. Bharti Group?s Sunil Mittal has committed investments worth Rs 1,000 billion over the next five years for augmenting its network and infrastructure and delivering 4G service to the masses.
