Bharti Airtel has signed a multi-year IP trunking service agreement with O3b Networks for providing its services in the South-east Asian nation of Timor-Leste. Airtel currently provides geostationary satellite connection-based telecom service in the country.

The operator will use O3b satellites that orbit the earth in medium earth orbit to offer improved connectivity for supporting the growth of 2G and 3G customers across Timor-Leste, and replacing the bulk of geostationary-based capacity from other service providers.
