Bharti Airtel has received bilateral financing commitments of up to $2.5 billion from China Development Bank and Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, with an average maturity of about nine years.
The operator is expected to utilise these funds to grow its data networks. China Development Bank has committed a credit line of $2 billion, while the Industrial and Commercial of China has offered $500 million of credit.
The transactions are subject to regulatory approvals including clearance from the Reserve Bank of India.
