Bharti Airtel has launched its 4G trials for its existing customers in Chennai and is planning to initiate the same in Mumbai and Hyderabad by end-May 2015. The 4G services under the trial are being provided in the 1800 MHz band.

The company will use the trial phase to gather customer feedback around the quality of its 4G services. This will further help the company in building the 4G network infrastructure for the city. Airtel has also reportedly stated that the network to launch Frequency Division Duplex (FDD)-Long Term Evolution (LTE) in Hyderabad is also ready. Meanwhile, in Mumbai, the company will provide time-division duplex (TDD) LTE in 2300 MHz band.

Airtel customers in Chennai can avail a complimentary upgrade to Airtel 4G at 3G prices to experience Airtel 4G speeds. To avail of this offer, customers with 4G-ready mobile devices can upgrade to a 4G SIM at Airtel?s retail touch points across Chennai.

Currently, Bharti Airtel offers 4G services in 19 cities across the country, including Kolkata, Bengaluru, Pune, Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula.
