
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has extended a contract with global telecom infrastructure provider UTStarcom for enhancing the former?s networks, for additional three years. Under the extended contract, UTStarcom will supply equipment and maintain BSNL Multiplay, the broadband triple play network till 2018.
In March 2014, BSNL had awarded a contract to UTStarcom to supply multi-service access network (MSAN) equipment and support design, engineering and installation, helping the former to upgrade its network to offer next generation multi-media services to its customers. As per the contract, UTStarcom will supply products including B1000 IPDSLAM, RPR, EMS, LAN switches, BNGs, and various applications like AAA, SSSC and SSSS to BSNL.
UTStarcom is planning to expand its operations in India in 2015 by partnering with Indian telecom operators, system integrators and the government entities working under the Digital India initiative.
