Aircel has partnered with Reliance Communications (RCOM) to launch 3G services in the Mumbai circle. The company has entered into a 3G intra-circle roaming agreement (ICR) with RCOM to launch the services in the circle as it does not hold 3G spectrum in the circle. TDSAT has permitted telecom operators to offer 3G services under ICR agreements, rejecting DoT?s directive that barred operators from the same.
Aircel had won spectrum in 13 circles but not in the Mumbai circle in the 3G auctions in 2010. With the launch, Mumbai becomes the third circle where Aircel has launched its 3G services after Delhi and Rajasthan circles in 2014.
