
According to the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), GSM telecom operators added 6.12 million new subscribers in September 2014, resulting in an increase in the total GSM subscriber base from 749.9 million subscribers in August 2014 to 756.08 million subscribers in September 2014.
In September 2014, Idea Cellular added maximum number of new subscribers at 1.72 million. The operator?s total subscriber base stood at 143.5 million, with a market share of 18.99 per cent as of September 2014. Meanwhile, Vodafone India added 1.35 million users during the month, taking its total subscriber base to 173.8 million and market share to 22.99 per cent. It was followed by Bharti Airtel that added 1.02 million users, taking its total user base and market share to 211.5 million and 27.98 per cent, respectively.
Further, during September 2014, Aircel added 956,000 new users, taking its total subscriber base to 75.8 million, while Uninor recorded an increase of 941,000, increasing in its total user base to 41.8 million. Videocon Telecom and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) added 107,000 and 14,223 new subscribers, taking their total subscriber base to 5.94 million and 3.30 million, respectively.
The numbers by COAI do not include GSM subscribers of Reliance Communications and Tata Teleservices Limited.
