With an aim to increase its post-paid mobile customer base from five per cent to 10 per cent over a period of one year, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has launched a service wherein bills can be paid at over 500,000 of its franchises or retailers from earlier five days a week to seven days a week.
The state-owned telecom company has been citing challenges regarding bill payment as one of the major issues for continuous decline in its high revenue post-paid customer base.
BSNL has stated that the average revenue per user (ARPU) for post-paid customer is about Rs 400 whereas for pre-paid, ARPU?s stand at Rs 90-100. Therefore, to drive profits, the operator is focusing on promoting its post-paid plans and revamping its bill payment facilities.
