
Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL) is conducting trials for offering TV services on its 4G network, say news reports. The company plans to offer customers services such as live TV, and video-on-demand.
RJIL?s TV service will include the Catch UP feature which will allow customers access to seven days of stored content for each channel thereby eliminating the need to record programmes. RJIL TV service is likely to include live TV and video on demand.
The company plans to provide 4G services at a 10 to 12 times higher speed compared to 3G services. Currently, a 3G network delivers highest connectivity speed of 4 Mbps. In comparison, RJIL, while undertaking 4G service trials claims to have achieved downlink speed of 49 Mbps and uplink speed of 8-9 Mbps.
