According to a report released by IMRB and the Internet and Mobile Association of India, the mobile internet user base in India is expected to reach 155 million and 185 million in March 2014 and June 2014, respectively.

As of December 2013, the mobile internet user base in India stood at 130 million as against 110 million in October 2013. The report indicates that the mobile internet user base in rural India is expected to increase from 27 million in December 2013 to 32 million in June 2014.

Despite an increasing number of mobile internet users, the average revenue per user has declined from Rs 460 in 2012 to Rs 387 in 2013. However, the percentage amount spent on mobile internet has increased from 43 per cent in 2012 to 45 per cent in 2015. Also, 35 per cent of the mobile internet users are spending between Rs 100 and Rs 500 monthly on their mobile phones. While 9 per cent are spending over Rs 500 and 6 per cent of the mobile internet users are spending less than Rs 100 every month on their mobile phones.
