Xolo has introduced the Q500 smartphone which functions on the Android Jellybean 4.1 operating system.
The smartphone has a 4-inch screen and is powered by a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor. The Q500 packs in 1 GB of RAM and 4 GB of internal memory which can be expanded up to 32 GB using a microSD card.
The smartphone supports dual cameras (a 5 megapixel rear camera and a VGA front-facing camera) and is priced at Rs 7,999.
However, DoT is of the view that the deal was in violation of the licencing norms as Idea Cellular held licences in the same circles as Spice Communications Limited. As per the rules, a telecom operator cannot hold more than 10 per cent or more stake in another operator in the same circle.
