As per the tentative schedule worked out by an inter-ministerial committee (IMC), set up by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), the third round of spectrum auction may start from January 7, 2014.
IMC is expected to submit its views on the recommendations made by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India regarding the auction to the Empowered Group of Ministers on spectrum (EGoM) by November 7, 2013. The EGoM will take a final decision on the modalities for the spectrum auction and seek the cabinet?s approval on reserve price for spectrum.
IMC expects to receive cabinet?s approval by November 23 in order to start the auction process by January 7, 2013. It has suggested that the process for compiling final document for auction, the notice inviting application, should begin in the second week of November.
