
Bharti Airtel plans to bring in its low-tariff, high volume business model to Mynamar, in case the company wins the bid submitted for a telecom licence in Myanmar.
According to the company, Bharti Airtel?s business model in India can be easily replicated in Myanmar which offers immense opportunities for the mass and rural telecom network rollout.
Bharti Airtel-led consortium is among 11 players to have submitted final bids for telecom licences in Myanmar.
The Myanmar government has for the first time opened up its telecom market for private players. At present, two operators MPT and Yatanarpon Teleport are offering mobile services to users in the Myanmar. MPT is a fully government-owned operator and Yatanarpon Teleport is a semi-government owned operator.
The Myanmar government, will award two telecom licences to service providers on June 27, 2013.
