
Uninor has incurred expenses of about Rs 480 million in the process of closing down its operations in the Mumbai circle, says news reports.
The operator shut down its operations in Mumbai in February 2013. Telenor will reportedly include the cost of shutting down services under the title, ‘other items’ in the first quarter financials of the current year 2013 (January 13 to December 13).
Uninor discontinued services in Mumbai circle following the cancellation of 22 of its licences by the Supreme Court in February 2012. Subsequently, the majority stakeholder of the company, Telenor participated in the November 2012 auction through new entity Telewings Communications and won spectrum in six circles.
Currently, Uninor has licences in six circles – Maharashtra and Goa, Gujarat, UP East, UP West, Bihar and Jharkhand and Andhra Pradesh.
