Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited (SSTL) has posted its financial results for the fourth quarter and the full year ended December 31, 2012. The company’s consolidated revenue for this period was $72 million. For the full year, the company reported consolidated revenue of $303 million.
Currently, non voice revenues contribute 36.8 per cent of the company’s total quarterly revenues and stood at $27 million and $ 109 million, respectively.
For the fourth quarter of 2012, the operator had 1.78 million data card subscribers. Also, the company recorded the lowest full year operating income before depreciation and amortisation (OIBDA) loss in last three years. Consolidated OIBDA loss for the fourth quarter of 2012 and the full year stood at $51 million and $ 271 million, respectively. The company’s yearly OIBDA margins improved by 64 p.p.
Meanwhile, its mobile subscriber base declined by 10.5 per cent on a quarter-on-quarter basis to 14.89 million (December 31, 2012). The company’s minutes of usage (MoU) increased, from 263 minutes in the third quarter of 2012 to 268 minutes in the fourth quarter of 2012.
Commenting on the results, Vsevolod Rozanov, president and chief executive officer, SSTL, says, “During the quarter, our focus was on retaining subscribers, controlling expenses and preparing for auctions. Post auctions, SSTL secured spectrum in eight of its core circles. With the Rajasthan circle also a part of SSTL’s footprint, we will be able to potentially service 40 per cent of the country’s population, address around 60 per cent of data business potential, safeguard 75 per cent of our current revenues and significantly optimise our losses.”
