Vodafone India has opted for the deferred payment route to pay the fee for the 2G spectrum that the operator has won in the recently concluded auctions.

The operator has written to the Department of Telecommunications stating that it will pay the spectrum in installments. Vodafone India won additional spectrum in 14 circles for Rs 11.28 billion.

Most of the operators winning spectrum in the 2G spectrum auction have decided to pay only 33 per cent of the bid amount upfront while paying the rest of the spectrum fee in installments.
