In a written response to the Rajya Sabha, Kapil Sibal, Minister of Communications and IT has said that several private operators have outstanding dues of Rs 5.82 billion as licence fee and spectrum charges.

Of this, in terms of unpaid licence fees, Reliance Communications has outstanding dues of Rs 511.2 million, Dishnet Wireless Limited owed the government Rs 189.1 million, while Bharti Airtel had outstanding dues of Rs 176.7 million.

In terms of spectrum charges, Reliance Communications and Reliance Infocomm had outstanding dues of Rs 1.81 billion, while Bharti Airtel owed the government Rs 1.35 billion in this regard.

Similarly, Tata Teleservices Limited and Tata Teleservices Maharashtra had outstanding dues of Rs 862 million and Rs 767 million respectively.

Overall, the unpaid licence fee amount up to the third quarter of 2011-12 stood at Rs 882 million, while outstanding spectrum charges up to financial year 2007-08 was Rs 4.94 billion.
